The Voyage of the Pleiades Friday Treat

Happy Friday! I don't know about the rest of you, but nearly a year of living in lockdown has raised my wanderlust to painful levels. So, as a treat for everyone on this Friday, I thought I would share some photos taken by me and my partner David from our travels to the locations in The Voyage of the Pleiades. I had planned to return to Chile during my final revisions, but instead have had to rely on my memories from my several trips there and our photos. In addition to photographs, maps and research; music is vital to my creative process, if you are interested, I would be happy to share the Spotify playlist I created for this book.

¡Feliz viernes amigos!

Prior to her departure on expedition, Linnea works as a botanist at The Chelsea Physic Garden in London, England.

The Chelsea Physic Garden was unfortunately closed on the day we visited, so we had to be satisfied with a glimpse through the gates.

This photo was taken from our cabin on Chiloé Island, to the left of the frame you can see the town of Puñihuil which was the basis for my fictional village.

These are the cabins we stayed in close to Puñihuil and gives you a feel for the landscape of Northern Chiloé.

These boats are in the harbor at Dalcahue on the east coast of Chiloé. Dalcahue is famous for being home to the brujería. I was followed through the market by an elderly man dressed in black, hat pulled low over his face. It entertained me to think that he was a bruja rather than a sketchy guy following what he took to be a gullible gordita blanca with pockets to pick.

Thank you for joining me on this mini travelogue and for all your support and positive feedback. Hasta la proxima vez.....
