As mentioned in my previous post, last Saturday, Julie Speer Jackson and I had our pilot script for Gear Up!, presented as a table read at the Salida Film Festival. For those that don’t know, a table read is where (in the case) a television script has the speaking parts, action and shots read aloud. Around 30 people attended and the actors did a great job performing. There was a lively Q&A session where the Salida community was able to give us feedback and gain some insight into the process of taking a script from idea to production.
Even for a writer, it is hard for me to find words to express how wonderful it is to hear people laugh at the lines you’ve written, to receive feedback that they related to the characters, or could really get a sense for the world we’ve created. Those experiences never get old and are such a reward for the hard work that goes into creation.
To feel the support of our community and receive such positive feedback definitely had me flying for the rest of the day. Here’s hoping that you will have the opportunity to see it soon!
Well done Amy, Living the dream you are!
