Garden of Shadows is LIVE!

Today is the day! Garden of Shadows is finally available to you.

“I was awake when the first drops hit the windows. Thunder rumbled in the distance. I shifted from beneath the covers, moving soundlessly over the floor and down the stairs.

The wide leaves of the rhododendrons were slick with rain. Another roll of thunder shook the paving stones under my bare feet. The storm was picking up momentum.

I ran to a small patch of grass at the center of the garden. My toes curled into the wet blades as the clouds unleashed. Scents trapped for weeks in desiccated vegetation burst forth. The air was redolent with thyme, cypress, myrtle, stone, minerals, steel. I sank to my knees.

My dressing gown plastered to my skin, my face wet with a combination of rain and tears. A fork of lightning split the sky. For a brief second, I could see the Alhambra between the buildings, backlit and wrathful atop its throne. Thunder followed on its heels.

I instinctively clenched my fingers into the sod when the intensity of sound seemed to cleave the earth. The drought had broken. The deluge had arrived.”
